Pieces don't fit together
My son was very excited for this kit. He received it as a Christmas gift from his grandparents. We spent the morning digging it out with the included tools as well as our own tools as it is not an easy task. It is also incredibly messy. We finally got all the pieces out and cleaned up only to find that either we received the wrong tail piece or it was incorrectly made as the part that should click in to the rest of the model was cut on the opposite side and therefore did not fit. My husband attempted to trim and cut parts of it to make the pieces go together and we finally had to resort to gluing it together and telling our son it would be just for display as it was liable to fall apart. That's always fun for an 8 year old to hear. And before anyone assumes we didn't follow the directions, we had a civil engineer and an experienced model builder both working to get it together. For the price of this kit, I'm extremely disappointed in the lack of quality control. Unfortunately, we also received the tyrannosaurus kit and we now have absolutely no desire to open that one.

Excellent Toy for Expanding the Scientific Mind!
I bought the Big Dig Triceratops for my four and half year old grandson. He loved the concept of actually excavating a dinosaur/fossil from the "earth". He spent hours digging up the bones. Excellent learning tool!!

Pieces missing
Pieces were missing. My sons are collecting these and like to build and glue them together so they stay. This was my first time ordering the Triceratops.

Great gift for the curious!
My granddaughter loved this gift and sees herself as a budding scientist/artist/nature lover age 7. She wore glasses and a mask as instructed to keep out the dust and was totally into uncovering the bones bit by bit developing her own technique. She even lets her older sister help. The dino has yet to be completely revealed and assembled but it will be. It takes time and focus. All the gifts ordered from Mindware arrived promptly and in excellent condition.

Hammer away
My granddaughters had a blast last Christmas with the "dig it up" so I bought more for next Christmas. It's a one time project, however the one time can last for hours, and day's. Overall it's a wonderful exciting project for them.

BEST ANSWER: My six year old loved doing the T-Rex Dig It Up. It took him a couple days, but he was intensely involved the whole time. Great for the 6 yr age bracket!
