terrific
I'm a grandma, who bought this as a gift for my grandson. This product was supposed to be for kids slightly older than my grandson--who's in second grade--but he's particularly fascinated with putting things together and has an engineering kind of mine. It was the best present I could have given him. He opened it and couldn't put it down...and days later is still finding multiple ways to use it, learn from it. I know how kids today like their 'screen' activities--but this engages his mind.

We ordered this for a grandson’s eighth birthday. It was an immediate hit. After he looked over the pieces and illustrations he followed the step by step instructions to build his first project. That was soon followed by projects two, three and four!

Does this work without an iPod?

  • BEST ANSWER: Yes, it can be operated without one and any audio device with an auxiliary port can be used to play sounds through the speaker piece.
