When I saw how lengthy the images are, I was afraid they would be too challenging for an 8 and 10 year old, but they seem to really like them.

Pictures are too "busy". It's difficult to tell what exactly is in the finished picture.
Nice idea, but too involved for ages indicated. Kids got bored before they finshed. I finished one and wasn't even able to tell what all the details were. A broader pen or pencil might help here.. It takes too long to complete the picture, and when it is complete it's difficult to tell what all is in the picture. As I said, they are too "busy".......too many lines, too many items in finished picture.
