MindWare's word games for kids work on spelling, strategy and language skills. In fact, building language skills is one of the most important areas for success in grade and middle school. And the best way to build skills is to add them into a fun game and watch the learning begin! Incredibly fun word games like Banangrams, Blind Spell and Choice Words pull 11-year-olds in and have them competing while they are learning.
Our word games for kids help them develop their spelling and language skills while having a great time! Best of all, they have such a great time playing that they forget the fact that they are learning as they go along!
Bananagram plays fast and furious, but it's simple to play too, with no pencil, paper or board required. Simply use the tiles to for individual crosswords, then race to grab more tiles, rearranging already laid letter as you go. An entertaining game for 2 to 8 players.
Blind Spell takes away your vision with opaque glasses and then challenges you to spell without being able to see the letters. Give a handful of letters to the blindfold glasses-wearing player and announce the word to be spelled. The player must try to assemble the letters in the correct order by feel before the time runs out. Add extra letters for an increased challenge! Great for kids ages 11 and up.
Choice Words challenges you to recall popular phrases - but that's only half the battle. In "Scratch Play" you'll get points for each phrase that no other players have thought of. In "Match Play" you'll score points for correctly guessing how others will fill in the blanks. As time runs out the phrases become more far flung and hilarious. Great game for 2 or more players.
The game Crazy Letters is a fast-paced game that will strengthen thinking skills and leave everyone wondering which way is up! Roll the die to determine a category then draw a card. The first person to figure out the jumble of letters shouts out the word to win the card. The hard part is you may need to read from right to left or from the bottom up. Add in the quirky fonts and rotated letters and you've got a challenge! This amazing game is a PAL Award winner - which focuses on the best games and inspiring communications between kids and adults as they play.
