Ratings & Reviews

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed in product I bought the GearJits Coaster for my grandson (13 years old) for Christmas. I received a call the wood pieces were not solid and broke quickly and easily. Unfortunately my grandson lives out of town and not returned in a timely manner for me to return for a refund. I purchased because of the reviews and my grandson would have enjoyed building and seeing the results of his work. Very disappointed!!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Difficulty My grandchild had difficulty joining most of the small pieces. She enjoyed most of the building and using the coaster.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My 12 year old great grandson loved it! This was a big hit Christmas morning for Ricky. It was age-appropriate and challenging fun for him. Definitely would recommend this for boys or girls of this age.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from missing parts My son received this for Christmas and spent several hours working on it before discovering that there were missing parts. Because it is out of stock, Mindware basically said, sorry, can't help you. What a frustrating experience for him -- and for me as a consumer. Don't waste your money or your child's time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Impossible for a kid of any age My son wanted this for Christmas, and my engineering father bought it for him. My 10yo and I have built many wooden models from TinkerCrates, and are expert Lego builders. This looked perfect for us to tackle together. Sadly, this has become a lesson in frustration and blistered fingers. Most of that is caused by the need to use tightly fitting, toothpick-sized dowels to hold everything together. Inserting the dowels has caused blisters from trying to squeeze them into the holes. The kit includes 15 dowels, but you will need over 50. The directions say to cut the dowels with scissors, but that leaves a “nub” that interferes with the operation of the gears and other moving parts. Also, it doesn’t tell you that you shouldn’t discard the leftover dowels, so I didn’t know to keep them until a few had already found their way into the trash. We have not finished this yet. It will be a miracle if we complete this without me breaking anything else. The pieces fit too tightly, and a few spots have broken while trying to assemble. The directions are also a bit nuclear, and we have had to go re-do steps. I wouldn’t recommend this for anyone, especially kids.
