This was even better than expected after reading the other reviews. My 10 year old put it together pretty much completely by himself. There was a piece or 2 we had to glue, but overall we were very impressed with the quality compared to other similar things we’ve put together. I also like the way it works once it’s finished. It took a little tweaking to wok perfectly, but that’s good experience for a kid learning how to make things work.

SO satisfied with this product.
I purchased this product for my 12 year old grandson for Christmas. His siblings wanted Legos and he no longer was interested in them, so this was a perfect building set to compliment theirs. Gearjits were on sale if I bought two, so I was able to get an awesome price. Ordering was easy, even though it was my first time ordering from this company. Gearjits marble machine
I bought this for my six year old grandson. He was very excited about. But when we began to work on it he quickly lost interest. The Gearjits we ordered was rated for a twelve year old but when I opened the instructions it was for a fourteen year old. My grandson quickly lost interest in it even though I thought it might be a project we could do together. The learning for me is to not get him something that is not for his age. I am not able to say more, got cut off by a word limit.

A Most Enjoyable Project
Total time to build, approximately 20 hours but then I didn't push the limit when it came ti putting it together. I was impressed with the engineering that was involved to get all these pieces to fit together without glue and to be able to just punch them out of the 1/8 plywood. Although it did not take any glue, once my final assemble was complete, I used some Bondic resin on some of the outer joints just to make sure it didn't come apart in the future. I would recommend this project to anyone

Difficult to assemble and fragile
The main issue I had was the quality. It was very fragile and required tape to shore up some of the connections. It was also not clear from the write up in the catalog that there were no written instructions, just fitting together tiny pieces of wood by picture. It was generally not what I expected.

Fun Project
I am writing this on behalf of my 68-year-old dad who put this together for his 3-year-old grandson. I heard lots of swearing as he found the directions frustrating and had to tweak some parts by filing the wood so it would fit together properly, but in the end it turned out perfect! Thank you for your feedback. You can use the wax included in the kit to reduce friction between the gears. You may also need to adjust the position of the gears so the coaster will run smoothly.

missing parts
My son received this for Christmas and spent several hours working on it before discovering that there were missing parts. Because it is out of stock, Mindware basically said, sorry, can't help you. What a frustrating experience for him -- and for me as a consumer. Don't waste your money or your child's time.

Mechanics bind up
It was fun to watch my son build this but once complete the marble ladder would bind almost every rotation. I sanded the surfaces of the cams smoother and it helped a little but not completely. Nice idea but not for wooden punch out pieces.

Very fragile
This is very fragile, and my 11-year-old son, who is quite skilled at putting together models and other kits, broke several pieces on Christmas morning. It was a shame because this was a gift from the "big guy from up North" and probably one of the last gifts, due to his age. A real let down. I need to figure out how to get replacement parts so he can at least complete it.
