Fun but hard to assemble
I bought this product as a Christmas present for my 7 year old grandson and also bought another set for my 11 year old grandson. Their parents had to help both boys with the assembly and they reported that the pieces were fairly hard to fit together and that it was tricky to find a balance between pushing hard enough to snap them together and not too hard to not break the pieces. A couple of pieces did break, but that did not seem to affect the function of the gumball machine.

Wow! This is an incredible project! I bought this for my 8 yo son thinking he could do it with assistance. The prices are nice, directions easy to follow, and the final product functions as it should. It looks really cool and my son and his grandfather had a great time doing this together!! Parental Oversight is Imperative!
Kits are challenging and fun at the same time. Both my 7 year old (girl, second grade) and my 10 year old (boy, fifth grade) have been riveted by their kits. We have four Gearjits kits, altogether. Patience and willingness to read and follow instructions thoroughly are a MUST with these kits! Both my kids struggled with the wooden pins (fasteners), which were much too large for the pre-cut guide holes. I ended up taking out my Kobalt electric drill and "boring" out the holes to make them fit.

Came with broken pieces, soon worked hours and couldn't finish
The concept is great on this. But, the pieces are so fragile... some came in broken. I wish we'd ordered elsewhere with a better return option, since this was a Christmas gift. We were out of the return window but the time the gift was given. Wouldn't recommend this product at all.
