A handsome and fun model to build
I bought this for my ten-year-old for his birthday. He powered through assembly in a couple of days, and was excited to complete the model and show it off. Other than a great deal of sanding, the project was not terribly daunting - many, many parts, but it was fun to watch it go together. Now he has a visual aid for learning more about astronomy and our solar system.

Toughie
I'm in the process of assembly. I don't believe that anyone under 16 should attempt to assemble this product. I have to use an x-acto knife to assure that I would not damage many of the parts from their "home". While the parts are not warped, the assembly structure doesn't align sufficiently to allow for some parts to be attached easily. I think that the instructions are adequate. The kit is a challenge. I've never assembled something like this out of wood and doubt that I will ever try again.

Eleven year old defeats age limit!
My eleven year space nut just finished it in two days and loved it! A little trouble getting it to spin right, but that's just another engineering challenge she gets to solve!

Teen daughter loves it!
My daughter loved assembling this kit. She (14) found the instructions easy to follow and found it fascinating due to the crank allowing planet revolution. Once assembled, I found the crank gear mechanism to feel a bit loose, so I am always unsure how much pressure is okay to put on turning the crank without it breaking the crank.

This project is a lot of work but well worth it!
This was a Christmas gift for my 10 year old grandson! He absolutely loved it! The pieces are well-made and well marked. I think it was very proud of himself when it was completed, and the planets turned perfectly!
