Do waste your time or money.
My son has been looking forward to putting this together. Unfortunately, the pieces are poorly made and are not quite right. After many hours of troubleshooting with several adult minds, we determined the pieces for the locking mechanism are slightly off causing it to not work. Don't waste your time or money.

Fun, but futzy
This was a really fun project to do with my son. Because he is under 12, I helped him a lot, but even though I'm definitely over 12, it was often quite difficult for me to get some of the the pieces to fit--and then they broke. Although some of the pieces are duplicated in case they break, not enough of the pieces were duplicated, or there weren't enough duplicates. We ended up buying a second set because a key piece got broken and there were no duplicates.

LOVE !
My nephew LOVES his box - many different "secret" features + compartments. He was able to build it on his own and was very happy doing so. (I think he broke a few pieces separating them from the flats, must be super careful, but didn't hinder overall build). Very happy customer with his last Christmas present - it was worth waiting for this to come back in stock.

Disappointing!
My son received this as a gift for his birthday. It was extremely difficult to put together. The pieces were flimsy and broke easily. Even now that it’s put together, it’s not very stable and the latch only works part of the time. We’re very disappointed and expected more from a Mindware product.

Don't waste your money!!!
Do not waste your money on this!!! The idea is great but the creation is a zero! The pieces are too flimsy to hold the gears in place! I have a ME degree and 4 hours later, my grandson and I were only on step 7 of 14 steps! The pieces are just too unstable to create this! It would be great to get my money back! This is still at our grandson's house! I will return in later months with a big bottle of wood glue to stabilize the structure to see if it can be salvaged!

Not the best order.

Not worth the money
There are many small peices which was expected but the slots they go in are so tight that smaller thinner peices are breaking when the necessary force is being put on them to try to get this box together. My daughter spent 2.5 hours on it. Used a pair of pliers to help sometimes. Stopped because her fingertips hurt from having to push so hard. I'm not sure it is going to fit together and function correctly when we get it together because of the peices that will be missing due to breaking.

Like: the exact fit of parts. However: suggest you send extra face pins - they break easily and I had to make some from tooth picks. Otherwise; just loved it!
