Initially, seemed overpriced for what it is, but it pays for itself after hours of play. I was concerned the planks would be frustrating to build with because of their lighter weight, but have not had issues. For reference, they are a bit longer, flatter and lighter than Jenga tiles. If your kids like to build with dominos, legos, or anything at hand, this is a great set. No fuss - hundreds of identical pieces to build whatever you imagine. Neat book for tips and designs.

Intriguing Gift for Kids
My granddaughter was so excited to get this for her 11th birthday. She is so intrigued with the concept of building contraptions without interlocking pieces. She is ready to explore building without a guide soon.

Teaches problem solving skills and builds perseverance
My kids received this for Christmas, and out of the 20+ toys they had for Christmas, this was the most-played toy. My 8-yr-old likes building marble runs with the planks. We had some citiblocs from few years back, and they were compatible with the Keva planks. So with about 400 planks, he could build rather elaborate marble runs.
I like how it teaches him perseverance, and problem solving skills. For example, what do you do when your ball doesn't have the desired velocity?
Sometimes his structure falls apart when he isn't careful and he gets all frustrated. I would tell him to take a break and then come back again when he is ready. More often than not, he comes back to build another one, sometimes even bigger than the previous one. i believe this helps in building his resilience to what life brings in future.
The video is the first marble run structure he built by himself over Christmas.

Need steady hands and a calm demeanor!
After the initial frustration of having a nearly completed contraptions fall to bits, the children (ages 5 and 6) got the hang of how to balance and how to be extremely careful in placing those final pieces…and they had loads of fun. And continue to.

Everything fell down!
We were excited to build, but the slightest bump and the whole thing falls down. My boys are 9 and 6. We all got super frustrated after everything we build fell down.

Exceptional quality plus hours of creative and imaginative fun!
I bought this for my Grandson's 9th birthday. He was so excited. He only had it a couple of days and he had already built a bridge, black hole as he called it and some kind of maze. He made a point of thanking me again separately for buying him the extra 50 bonus pieces. He was so excited to get the extra 50 bonus pieces. In fact he loved the Contraptions 200 so much that he actually told his Dad that he has to call Grandma and Grandpa and thank them for his awesome gift.

Fun for the whole family.
My 5 year old son got this for Christmas and loves it. Our whole family loves building “contraptions” together actually and finding new creative ways to build. The designs in the instructions are great for starting and then you can add your own ideas. We actually like taking slow motion videos of the ball going through our designs. My son likes to set up domino effect designs. This is a great learning tool for early engineering and physics concepts. I highly recommend.

Love the book and ability to store the bonus blocks in the big box!
We bought these for my son for Xmas. He was actually quite dissapointed because he wanted more army men(350 isn't enough apparently). However, he's playing with them a lot! When he said he wanted them, he mentioned using them to make "forts" for his army men. As a parent, I enjoy playing with them! They are so cool! I really like the idea book that comes with as it shows pretty clearly how to build some structures. Also, the 250 planks fit in the 200 box which is helpful for storing them!
