great books
My kids love reading these at bedtime. I like the way the book points out that a clue was revealed and challenges the kids to find it. The pictures are great too.

Quality intriguing novelty reads
I ordered these for my highly literate 8 yo, aiming to have my 7 yo read them who is more at the targeted reading level (I am guessing 3rd grade?). My 8 yo explained though they were easy to read, the questions were tough. The stories are wholesome from what I've pre-read and the extra book we received was actually 7 American History mysteries. There are questions to solve in capital letters or bolded in the stories every few pages, with the answers on the next page. The history mysteries seem accurate, I read the Plimoth Plantation one, which was timely as we just visited the Plantation this Thanksgiving. The History mysteries are quite educational, not sure a kid would read them for fun, but maybe. They are entertaining but full of facts. The only problem I see with these books is that kids probably wouldn't want to re-read them, because once you know the answer to the questions, it's a bit anticlimactic.

The books have pictorial and word clues, but the clues aren't obvious, so kids should be guided through them for best benefit.
It's hard to find mysteries for young kids, and I'm looking forward to sharing them with my granddaughter. Vol. 1 uses Mother Goose rhymes as a basis, so I have put together a MG unit (a tape of rhymes, several MG books and a set of treasure boxes with tiny objects inside) and having read the book first, will guide my granddaughter through the clues as we read it together. I hope each volume is as much fun as the first.

Fun books!
Our 7 year old daughter LOVES these books! They're a lot of fun, very engaging, and keep her interested. She loves trying to solve the mysteries, and as a parent, I love seeing her nose in a book! Highly recommend.
