Product Details

Explore hydraulics, pneumatics, and robotics with your very own GIANT hydraulic hand! Using over 200 plastic pieces and piston tubes that you fill with water, build an awesome mechanical hand that uses hydraulic power to simulate the movements of the human hand--no motors or electricity required! Once assembled, your cyborg hand slips onto your own hand like a glove, with mechanical fingers that you operate with your own fingers and that can grip objects with enough force to lift them. Challenge yourself to pick up and hold a variety of items like bottles, pencils, small items--anything with reach! The hand can be configured in three ways--left hand, right hand, and with the thumb in the center--and can be adjusted to fit virtually all hand sizes. A 40-page, full-color manual guides model building and experimentation and provides engaging scientific information about how pneumatic and hydraulic systems are used in industrial robots to assist with a variety of tasks in our modern world. Requires assembly.

Needs special tools for assembly
I did not like how complicated it was to put this toy together. It took over 2 days to put together because the pieces were small, one needs special tools to put the pieces together and this is not well advertised. I'm a bit disappointed. My son, who is on the Spectrum, could not understand and he was a bit inpatient. In the end, once the hand is put together, it does not grab items very well. It's like the claw in the toy vending machine that barely has the strength to get the toy.

I bought this for my 8 year old son and he LOVES it. It took about 5 hours for he and my husband to build but the time is so worth it. Great gift!
My son gave this to his almost 9 year old daughter for Christmas. They both love science and spent about 2 hours putting it together on Christmas Day. She loved the time with her Dad as he explained all the dynamics of the cyborg hand. It really worked to pick things up and my granddaughter’s favorite for tickling. The hand can be adjusted for hand size, which is great because I think my son at 36 enjoys playing with it as much as his daughter.
