I bought this for grandkids. I assumed it would take a long time to make ice cream but it was way too long and finally put the ice cream in the freezer to continue to set. It slung liquid all over my kitchen floor. I had to put down a beach towel and we rolled it back and forth to each other. Had a simple recipe that the maker suggested and it just isn't worth the time. My grandkids do not have an hour and half attention span for making ice cream. I do not recommend this and the mess took as long to clean up.

Great fun-Great results!
I had one for my classroom and have given three away as gifts. Each one has been enjoyed as an activity for family nights, sleep overs, play dates, birthdays and classroom science lessons. I really like that we can make the recipes tailored to nutritional preferences and that the ball can be disassembled for thorough cleanings. This ranks as a child’s favorite!

Good ice cream - difficult to use
We used this product to make ice cream and the final product was delicious. However, the ball leaked all over the floor so we had to use a bunch of towels. It's really hard to hold onto when it drips all across the floor. We also had a hard time opening the different chambers because the rolling cause a build up of liquid and slush on both sides.

One-Quart Play & Freeze Softshell Ice Cream Maker
Thought this was a great product! Haven't had feedback from my nephew and niece who each received one as a gift but I imagine they will love it once they make ice cream with their moms.
Only slightly negative comment was one of the boxes had a tear and I love things to be perfect when I give them as gifts. Otherwise, they were both in fine condition.

Does not work as advertised.
It leaked profusely, both the ice and salt part, and the ice cream ingredients part. My son wanted to return it. My granddaughter found other ways of having fun with it's parts. I was sad about it because it was such a disappointment.

Not worth the money
This is a really cute idea...but when you're rolling it around it leaks salt water everywhere...the lid is hard to open, it takes WAY longer than 15 mins to make ice cream..my daughter was rolling and shaking it for over 30 mins today..the sides froze but not the middle. It was fun to play with one time..not sure I'd say worthwhile for a $50 toy.

Fun and ice cream!
My 5 year old grand daughter and I made strawberry ice cream today in the play and freeze soft shell ice cream maker. Following the recipe was fun and easy. My granddaughter and I had a blast rolling the ball back and forth. I would recommend rolling on a bath towel as it leaks slightly as the ice melts. The ice cream was delicious. We have plans for three more flavors this week.

Great ice cream...but messy
Was really looking forward to making homemade ice cream, but turned out to be pretty messy. The ice cream turned out really good… but trying to get it out was the real pain in the butt!. Ball needs to come with some sort of flat ice cream scooper to get ice cream out!
