I am an adult colorist. I enjoy coloring and it relaxes me along with the relief of stress from many health issues for both myself and my husband. I can get lost in the coloring especially the coloring by numbers. These pencils are both numbered to go with the color by number books issued by Mindcraft but also the name of the color so it can be used with any of the coloring books by any publisher. The colors are smooth when applying and brilliant when used to color. My husband has framed many of the pictures that have been completed and they rival any paint by number we have.

Mostly good
I really like the pencils and, for the most part, they are high quality. However, some are very soft and do not last very long. I wish that it was possible to replace individual pencils. So, I find that I have to purchase new sets again and again just because the same ones are used up in each set while all the others are mostly still there.

Color vividness is lacking
Colored pencils sold with the Mystery Mosaic books are not vivid or dark enough colors to cover the numbers. The result is a colored picture that only looks good viewed from a distance. We are resorting to colored markers to cover the numbers. Also, pencils need to be sharpened frequently, and after two books it appears that one 36 pencil set may last for approximately four books.

Very nice pencil set to match the Mindware coloring books
I love that I won't have to guess at what colors to use anymore on my Mystery Mosaic coloring books. The triangular shape keeps the pencils from rolling and they're easy to grip. Getting these pencils reminded me of getting a new box of crayons when I was a kid--the feeling of anticipation and newness always made me smile. I look forward to using these pencils for a long time.

Can you buy individual color pencils to replace some of your used ones in your 36 pencil set?

  • BEST ANSWER: At this time we do not have a replacement program for individual pencils, but you can use other coloring materials by matching their hue to the included number guide.
