Product Details

This astounding robotic creature features an air suction system that enables it to walk up and down smooth surfaces like glass, plastic, whiteboards and glossy laminates. When the Geckobot's tongue hits an object in its path, the motor is triggered into reverse gear and it marches back down the wall. Geckobot's head and tail sway from side to side while it walks with an astonishingly lifelike lizard effect. A 24-page, full-color manual guides you through model building with step-by-step illustrations and fascinating scientific context. Use two AAA batteries (sold separately). Great learning toy with some parental assistance!
We received this as a gift for our 6-year old, and he readily assembled the lego-like steps while I assisted with the more advanced steps like gear alignment and tubing. We had a great time and it does walk up the window. It's quite an impressive, high quality kit for the price! A hint to others: Steps 12 and 15 you have to ensure the upper and lower leg attachment shafts are exactly in the same rotational orientation. One gear tooth off, and it may bind and not have the power to climb. Most of the instructions are very clear about orientation, but this I noticed during assembly and it's not in the instructions.

product does not work
Geckobot is too heavy to climb up.... falls constantly. My son enjoyed building it but unfortunately has not been able to play with it.

Do not buy!
The battery pack does not open. We ordered two, my sons spent a few hours putting the gecko together, but we could t get them to work . We tried small screwdrivers, big screwdrivers, and everything Else we could think of. The battery compartment wouldn’t budge, it was a waste of time and money.

Disappointing
My husband helped my grandson put this together. It definitely wasn't easy, directions hard to follow. Once it was together it would not climb the patio door. He tried adjusting what there was to adjust but it would not climb. That could maybe be to the cold glass (live in MN)? It did walk on the floor. It was disappointing to my grandson as he was expecting to see it "climb" the window. Haven't tried other options of things to build.
