Product Details

Building your own pet robot is cool, but building your own super smart lizard with artificial intelligence? That's wild! Follow the detailed instructions to build your own 13" long kingii dragon, then use the 2-way function switch to program the infrared sensor to "escape" or "approach" mode. In escape mode, the dragon will drop its jaw, flash its bicolor LED eyes, and spread out its frill at you. Not intimated? It turns and scampers away. In approach mode, your kingii will extend and shake its frill to bluff you. If it doesn't sense danger, it will approach with a wagging tail like a good pet lizard. Uses 4 AAA batteries (sold separately). Assembly Tips

Age Recommendation: Ages 10 and up

Warning: Choking Hazard

Robot never worked
This was a gift for our highly intelligent 11 year old son. It took a couple of hours for the two of us to assemble, easily enough, but it never worked. Even after disassembling the dragon and putting it back together, it did nothing. We were unable to get a refund and the 30 days from purchase had expired. Don't spend your money on this toy. On paper it looks fabulous, but in reality, it's worthless.

Sits on a shelf broken
We got this for my son to build with him and there was basically nothing the 6 year old could do except clip out the plastic pieces. After months of going back to this he finally asked me just to build it for him. I am very good at working on these types of things but this thing was tedious and in the end it had to be taken apart 3 different times- the last time after the frill stopped working 15 minutes into turning it on. After opening the head back up we find the piece that makes the frill open and close (the peg) had broken when it had gotten caught on the comforter hanging off the bed for a split second. At no point was it handled carelessly or played with roughly by the 6 year old. It literally walked into a blanket and broke. This project is tragic. The end game with the motion sensored lizard wasn't even that impressive. Basically he runs toward you or away depending on switch. It just was not worth the time put into the building process. We also had gotten the robotic arm and no one in the house wants to open the box.

good idea but....
My daughter, age 11 and a major STEM kid spent many hours putting this together. I was great seeing her concentrate on one thing for so long. Legos stopped being a challenge many years ago. This was difficult for her and several times she had to take things apart because it was wrong or wasn't put in as precisely as it needed to be. Once she even got it completely but basically had to start over because something wasn't making the connection so the part wouldn't move. After she got it assembled and working properly it lasted all of two hours before one of the parts on the frill snapped and now it doesn't work at all. The fill popping out is one of the coolest parts. Would have been great if not for that.

Instructions are sufficient for assembly
Yes, it took us maybe 4 hours to build, and you must be careful, but it works as advertised. There was no recharge cord in our sample. It moves on (low) carpet and brick floors. The frill action is impressively quick.

Dissapointing
We received this as a Christmas present for my then 9-year old son, and we were all very excited to see it work. My son loved it at first, at least the idea of this cool-looking dragon robot, with all it was supposed to do. He excitedly laid everything out and spent hours assembling it. But then, near the end of the assembly process, one of the parts would not fit correctly. There was nothing we could do to make it work, and it was such a disappointment for all of us, including my mom who purchased it. My mom called and got a store credit refund so we could get something else, which was nice of them. However, with all of the time my son invested in making it, and then the "robot" would not move or do anything at all, and with all of that occurring on Christmas morning, it definitely ranks as one of our top toy disappointments.
