Great supplies and hours of fun
My 11yo son and I made snow globes using this product. I was very impressed with the clay: there was a great variety of colors, and both the quality (easy to work with, baked up nicely) and the quantity (plenty of each color is included! even when your son makes a minecraft creeper and something else green - a zombie?).
The directions are very good. Make sure you follow the directions to PUT LOTS OF GLUE DOTS ON EVERYTHING!! My son did NOT and his creeper came unattached after only a little while of (vigorous? maybe?) shaking. The awesome thing is you can open the globe back up and reattach (I'm trying a glue gun this time!).
The only part of the directions that I think are not totally clear and reliable are the directions for the glitter. We added the quantity of glitter specified in the directions to my son's globe. It was WAY too much. We also added baby oil. Unfortunately, the directions don't specify how much baby oil to add. Maybe we used too much because the glitter is sticking together in chunks in my son's globe. It is hard to see his great figurines because there is so much glitter! Fortunately this doesn't seem to bother him.
In my globe I put a tiny drop or two of baby oil and just a *little* glitter and I think that's better. The glitter still sticks to the bird figure that I put in there, though. Even when I shake it, there is at least one piece that won't come off. That's not my favorite, but it doesn't look bad. I think I'm just picky.
Since we had extra clay I made a tiny globe using a baby food jar and put hardly ANY glitter in that one... but that doesn't look right, either. So I suggest putting half the amount of glitter that the directions specify with just a drop or two of baby oil.
The only time I would hesitate to recommend this kit is for younger children. My 11yo was really the right age. The clay figures have to be relatively small, and even my 11yo began to get frustrated towards the end of making them. I think it took us more than an hour to shape our clay figurines. Then we baked them. Then they sat for a week before we got them into the globes.
Overall a fun and rewarding project that was not too messy or frustrating for this NOT crafty mom!!

Harder than a rock
So disappointing and we ordered two! The clay was so hard in one of them no one could work it enough to make any shapes. The second was only slightly softer so we were creative and made thing that were square . One adult used a knife and a lot of muscle and cut different sized cubes.
The children loved the snow globe effect would have been great with workable clay

Don't buy this one!
Nice idea. Poor product. I worked with my granddaughter on this. Went OK until we tried to put the gaskets in place before screwing the components together. The plastic gaskets come all curled up in a envelope. It was impossible to make them lie flat so the assembly can be made. Recommended solution is to install the gaskets before offering the item for sale.

Glitter Disappointment
In anticipation of making the snow-globes with my 2 grand-daughters, we followed the directions carefully and were only disappointed with the glitter - the provided micro glitter just did not provide the snowy effect we expected. Even with baby oil drops added, the glitter clumped and "did not snow" as hoped. We had a Disney theme and put a few pieces of metallic Disney pieces in with the glitter and they seemed to float much better. We would hope the manufacturers would reconsider what type of glitter they include in the future.

Fun Craft, Not Long Lasting
We enjoyed the process of putting together the snow globes. There were more than enough colors to choose from and My 6YO had fun creating with the clay and putting it all together. Once put together, the globes did leak a bit, which was a bummer.

This product looks great. A great concept
This product was well packaged and complete. The modeling clay was SO HARD it could barely be made pliable. We did a few colors and it took over 2 hours and sore hands trying to make it soft enough to work with. After following all the instructions, we then found that the sticky stuff to stick the project to, didn't hold. Then of course, the sealing rings were crowded in a small package and all crumpled up and would never lay flat in the groove made for it. So by this time, we tried it anyway and of course, IT LEAKED. We still do not have a finished snow globe and because Santa brought it, what were we to do? Very disappointing and frustrating!
