Good 1st microscope
This microscope is ideal for a beginner. It does have a bit of a cheap "plastic" feel, it's very light weight in construction but it does a decent job with magnification. Only real complaint is the highest magnification setting has permanent dust particles under the lens, possibly from factory assembly, and it's impossible to see clearly on this setting because the microscope is continuously magnifying the dust and it clouds your vision of anything on the slide, unfortunately their is no way to clean this part on any of the 3 magnifying lenses. We also purchased the optional prepared slides to go with this microscope and I must say they are absolutely wonderful!

This product stimulates the imagination
My granddaughter was collecting stones and crystals and is curious about the world around her. A microscope was at the top of her wish list to Santa and she was very excited to find it under the Christmas tree on Christmas morning. As soon as possible, she had it set up with a little help from her Dad. She has been looking at the slides but also has been testing water drops from our faucet, water bottles, water purifier and discerning the differences. I know this microscope will be a part of her never ending curiosity for a long time to come.

Great scope for the price
I bought this for my daughter last year and she loves it. The prepared slides are great, but she loves that it comes with the dye to make your own as well. The lighting is very good and easy to adjust, and even though it is plastic, the magnifications work as well as the ones in her classroom. It has been fun.

Pretty good microscope, but needs kim-wipes and a cover.
I bought this microscope with slides for my 12-year-old son (who thinks that it was secretly a present for me). Some of the slides are hard to see and there is no cover for the microscope. I wish it had come with a cover AND Kim-wipes (there is debris on the lens). There is also a weird feature that when swapping between magnifications, the whole magnification assembly can rotate. I wouldn't have designed it that way.
