I like the product in it's idea. However, the cards are published with a primary purpose of teaching Hispanic culture. The message is so heavy that my daughter couldn't understand the cultural terms. For us, the cards turned into lessons on Hispanic Culture instead of who-done-it games. Even my 13 year old son (who has an superb vocabulary) struggled with the bombardment of foreign terms. After 5 cards, we haven't read any more.

My granddaughter dived right into these who-done-it mystery stories and was half way through the whole set but then she asked why every one was about stealing

Not developed to full potential. Misses the mark on over half the mysteries. Good examples to use for whole class teaching but not as a family game

Pros the cards are large, easy to hold and large enough print to make reading them simple. The small flexible mirror is both effective for the task of revealing the answer and for worry free use as it cannot be broken. The worse a child can get from using these is a paper cut. However, some of the cards assume knowledge a pre-teen may not have had use for in their up bringing til now thus making it more difficult for the child to figure out the main clue and guess the answer. The rest of the cards are at a better level for this age group and keep them thinking.

I bought the cards for my 11-year-old daughter. I read them out loud and we each try to solve the puzzle. Works best when the clues are in the content and not the spelling the key word(s). The level of difficulty and ingenuity varies greatly but generally falls in the 8 to 10-year-old range. Good fun and worth the price.
