Product Details

With no battery or motor required, the Hydraulic Arm Edge is a hydro-mechanical wonder. Assemble the model and then command its six axes of movements using independent levers. A braking system integrated in the lever controllers helps your robo arm execute commands with precision. The gripper opens and closes, the wrist rotates and flexes, the elbow bends, the shoulder raises and the base rotates up to 270 degrees. Remove the robot's gripper hand to activate a suction apparatus that can elevate objects like mobile phones. With a vertical reach of over 16 inches, a horizontal reach of over 12 inches and lifting capacity of 50g, your robotic friend is ready to get to work! Easy to follow instructions with detailed graphic illustrations pave the way for successful model construction, boosting engineering, math, science and technological learning.

Ratings & Reviews

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Seems well thought out.....up to the hydraulics. I got this for my son for Christmas. Since he's a bit young to assemble it, I did the majority of it. Pieces were well marked and nicely molded. Small parts were bagged accordingly and the instructions are very detailed, all positive. The thing that isn't so good is the water leaks from the hose/cylinder connections after a few hours. I understand that the tubes are just pressed onto the cylinder nipples so this doesn't make for a super secure fit, but for as quick as the water leaks out, there should be either a quicker way to add water, like an inline tap and a small syringe with water amounts for each cylinder unit, or a better union between cylinders and hoses. Right now, each unit has to be completely removed from the assembly to add the correct amount of water, then re-assembled..kind of a pain to do 4 of them only after a few hours of play and rest. I also understand that applying too much force at the operating handles could force water to bleed out....it's got to go somewhere, but we both know not to do that. Just checking the arm after its been sitting idle for an hour shows small puddles of water under some cylinders. When it's got the correct amount of water, it does what it's supposed to and is fun to use....just not for too long. Thinking about gluing the hoses to the cylinders to lessen the water loses but leave one end as a press on to refill. 2 stars might seem harsh, but it claims to work under the theory of hydraulics, yet that's it's biggest problem. Aside from that, the fit and finish is good, assembly is straightforward and all parts which are needed, are in the box.
