big hit with 7 year old son
7 year old son loves this. You can go by the suggestions in the book, but he also loves to just build what comes to mind. We build ramps for hot-wheels cars as an example.
And $50 for some wood sticks is not cheap. But I don't exactly have a wood-shop in my apartment.
Play with these alongside your kids and they'll enjoy ever moment. You'll easily get your moneys worth and then some.

Great for ADHD kids
I supervise a school based Big Brothers Big Sisters program in Milwaukee. We have a third grade young man with ADHD whose Big was having difficulty finding anything that could interest him for longer than a few minutes. It was obvious to me that she (his Big) was getting frustrated thinking she was the problem. The Keva blocks showed up and they spent the entire hour envisioning and building a contraption that employed all the block and then introduces other items in their invention.

A nice break from LEGOs
Our 10 year-old grandson loves the Keva set. He has tons of Legos and other building sets, and he loves these, too! The instruction book has lots of builds, but he also likes to come up with his own designs.

My grandsons are age 5 and 8 and are extremely happy with both the Contraptions and Structures sets. There is no end too what you can build with these blocks.

For aspiring builders
These were recommended to us by my son's Kindergarten complement program because he loves to play with them there. We bought him his own set for Christmas and he uses them constantly. The instruction book is helpful but also has given him ideas for his own contraptions.

Great fun
Grandson found some frustration when things collapsed when almost done. His father noted that all the boiat d's are not of equal thickness thus causing some imbalance and collapse. Love the creativity.

Challenging building
Purchased this set for 6+ grandson who is into advanced Legos as an alternative to those - he immediately started building a long chute for the ball to descend. I wish there was a way the planks could lock together as to not be so flimsy but that is just part of the overall design....a version with planks that could interlock would be even better and not require such steady hands and people to hold their breath!
