Granddaughter loves working with her Grandpa
My woodturning husband thought this was quite complete and a great starter kit for our 8 year old granddaughter. The biggest challenge was getting the mounting screws for the plastic base into the wood platform he cut to mount it on. They are just a little short. However, once mounted, our granddaughter was able to use the saw for cutting the puzzle and the sanding device to smooth the edges. She even had time to try the drill press and do a little spindle turning on the lathe!

Nice gift

I bought one years ago for my son when he was like 8 he is now 31. I really liked then and now I bought one for my grandson. He really enjoys it. He's cutting wood like his papa.

4in1 tool works as hoped. Fun to use.
I found that this tool works exactly as described. My 5 year old was very excited about it, and I was unsure at first. After setting it up, we used it to make his first project. with my guidance, He was able to do most of the work himself, and had a great sense of satisfaction when finished. I think he will be able to use this tool all by himself in a year or 2. If you work slowly and do not force the wood there is no reason that this tool will not last a long time. The DVD give you a quick visual lesson on using the 4 different tools here. It comes with a little wood, but easy to buy more at a local craft store, or on Ebay. I am very happy with this product.

So easy to use!!
We purchased this for our 7 year old son. He is mechanically inclined and took to everything right away. The quality is great for a starter piece. It is his favorite item from Christmas and some of the pieces are showing some wear. I say we have already gotten our moneys worth out of it as he has been drawing, cutting out and sanding like crazy. The lathe is also a favorite and he is able to switch over from cutting to the lathe with minimal help. I would definitely recommend to others both familiar and unfamiliar with tools. Very user friendly!!

This product did not work out of the box
My son was SO excited to get this for Christmas and was just as disappointed when it did not work at all. MindWare customer service was very helpful and sent out a replacement promptly, but that certainly did not help my son's Christmas morning disappointment. Hopefully the replacement will actually work. Do NOT buy this unless you can afford for your child to be greatly disappointed.
