Not for a 4yr old
Christmas gift from Aunt purchased at Target. Its NOT stable, took too long to assemble and there are not many variations because their aren't enough connector pieces. Its a cool idea, but needs improvements. Go get the marble run from Toys R Us, a lot more user and parent friendly.

A piece of junk!!
I purchased this for grands and other kids who visit our home. What a piece of plastic junk!! The whole structure is unstable. The elevator does not work well. The marbles fall off the platform that tilts on the elevator. I would give this a ZERO rating if it were available.

Perfect gift for a 4-year-old wannabe Engineer -- boy or girl!
I am at a total loss to understand the reviewer who thought this toy was "a piece of junk"! We found it to be beautifully constructed and sturdy enough to survive intact after the 80lb family dog walked on some of the pieces! This was an early Christmas gift for my 4-year-old grandson and he and his 6-year-old sister had hours of fun with this toy! It promotes design, creative, and imagination skills and is perfect for budding young engineers. It's a winner, MindWare!

Great product for a 6 years old girl
It's a great product. My daughter is 6 and she didn't want to go to sleep till we built it together. If reconfigured with some small changes it can be assembled to run for ever without the need to collect the marbles.

Overpriced and unstable, but son loves it.
What other reviewers have said is true - the final construction is unstable and easily falls apart. The instructions for putting it together are poorly written. However, my four-year-old son LOVES it! After I set it up for him, he played with it for several hours without interruption, and the fact that it kept falling apart just added to the excitement. He especially likes watching the marbles go down the funnel. I think it's overpriced and has stability issues, but my son is happy so I can't complain too much.

Instructions and design need to be revised
Before you buy this set, keep in mind that it should be assembled by an adult. I purchased this set for my grandkids and I struggled to construct the chain mainly because the instructions are incorrect from my perspective, but I was able to figure it out and have the set up and running. Appreciate the extra chain links, but I suggest to specify the exact number of links needed to construct the chain. Fitting "lips" need to be longer and add more bases to make the set sturdier.

A big disappointment
The instructions are frustrating. We tried to get the run set up and soon realized that every picture of it, from the side of the box to the instructions, was different. We were never confident we had it set up right, and there were pieces left over. The slightest brush against the structure sent it sprawling. The tubes did not fit snugly into each other, making it hard to pick up or move without everything coming loose. The final straw was when, after only light use, the motor failed.

Horrible Instructions!
The worst directions I've ever seen included in a toy. We've got two frustrated adults and a crying child because the directions are very unclear and the product is difficult to assemble.

Frustrating experience, bad design and terrible quality.
Simply put, its a frustrating experience building this set and once built it is next to impossible to maintain the structure. I cannot understand how this was designed keeping a 5 year old in mind. One of the worst toys ever and I wouldn't even call it an "engineering toy". It is a piece of junk. The instructions are useless to add to the misery. It takes hours to build the set and seconds for it to come apart. No, I dont want to use tape or super glue to hold it together.

Elevator Broke
Cool toy, lots of fun. Elevator motor broke 2nd use, can’t replace with out buying whole set. Boo- more landfill plastic
